RTE announce operating profit of €6.8 million
Published May 19th, 2005 in PR in IrelandRTE, Ireland’s state broadcaster, have announced an operating profit of €6.8 million in their annual report for 2004.
While the news is sure to irk many members of the public due to the rise in license fees, there were some interesting facts in the report. An additional €6.5 million was spent on home produced programming last year.
This is reflected in RTE Television’s previous announcement of their Summer schedule which will feature 300 hours of home based programming. So despite the stick for the license fee hikes (the Director General of RTE, Cathal Goan, stirred the pot even more when he expressed his concern about license fee evasion in the country), at least we’re seeing a bit of a return on our investment.
In terms of PR, some of the more interesting programming that will be on our screens includes a brand new chat show hosted by Miriam O’Callaghan and Ripoff Ireland which will be fronted by Eddie Hobbs.
