I didn’t get to see the infamous Captain Morgan blog, but all the criticism about it got me thinking - what would be the difference between a Mickey Mouse and a Britney Spears blog?

Oh sure, Britney is a living, breathing, little girl, but you’ll probably get a more honest answer out of Mickey Mouse.

<sarcasm>I’m sure it’d be great if the Backstreet Boys set up a blog for their next tour </sarcasm>, but who wants to read entries like “We dedicated the last song to Jesus” and “Our fans are the greatest in the world” if AJ falls off the wagon or Nick is ever accused of beating up an ex-girlfriend again.

The fact of the matter is that most of these ‘celebrity’ blogs are worthless. It’s actually funny because the so called z-listers like Wil Wheaton are the only ones with anything to say.

Wow, Pamela Anderson is blogging!…eh, so what? While it’s great to see her taking advantage of an exciting new medium of communication, it’s unlikely that she’ll be responsible for making blogging a household name like she did with the Internet ;)

It’s for this exact same reason that most companies who will eventually turn to blogging will end up getting it wrong. What’s the point in doing anything if you don’t do it right? If you’re not honest and don’t have anything worthwhile to say, then people will eventually pass you by (I say eventually because people still have time to listen to what Britney is blabbering on about now :D )
