London - The impact of the Internet
Published July 9th, 2005 in E-PRWe live in crazy mixed up world. The terrorist attack in London is a horrible example, but it does show the impact the Internet has made on our lives. Here’s some samples:
The BBC reports an Internet chatroom keeps London’s financial markets open.
The BBC reports on how blogs responded to the attacks, according to the article there were 1,300 posts on Technorati by 10.15am GMT.
Yahoo News reports on the key role mobile phones played in reporting on the attacks Picturephoning.com reports on how Flickr was used as a distribution tool for the images.
Hugh MacLeod, A-list blogger, is emailed to help try a missing person.
There’s plenty of other examples, but this tidbit shows the depth of the role the Internet plays and overlooks the instant response and scope of coverage available. Information at your fingertips - information that you never want to hear.
