Never trust a student near your branding
Published July 26th, 2005 in GeneralI was talking to somebody in a promotions company the other day and he was telling me about Today FM’s branding at Oxegen. They put up a load of banners beside the campsite and as soon as he saw it, warning bells started to go off in his head. Sure enough by the time the festival started the banners were all gone from the hoarding and were now plastered across the tents.
It goes without saying that you should never trust a student, espeicially if they are drunk. Today FM ended up losing out on their investment because of poor logistics. In future, if you are ever going to put up branding near to a load of drunk people then make sure it’s nailed down.
The difference some good branding can make is immense. Just look at all the controversy today about the two Cork hurlers that had Corona branding on their boots. Who cares if Corona lose out on their deal now, the exposure they got today was unbelievable - the frontpage of the Examiner and all the sports pages made their investment worth every cent.
