NewsTalk 106 launches CSR initiative aka Charity Idol
Published July 29th, 2005 in PR in IrelandNewsTalk 106 have launched their ‘Local Heroes’ campaign which will see the station give away €40,000 to four good causes. They are currently looking for submissions and each the four chosen projects will get some great exposure over the course of the week they are showcased.
During the week NewsTalk 106 will interview the cause’s spokesperson, give them access to advertising and marketing professionals, lend them a vehicle, hand out promotional leaflets and give them exposure on their website.
In my opinion this is a great initiative by NewsTalk 106. There are plenty of competing charities and good causes competing for the same share of voice. It’s very hard to get yourself into the limelight and get a bit of profile unless you can land a decent celeb or have a good backer. Numerous charitable organisations flog themselves to the media and PR consultancies and get a lot of pro-bono help, but not everyone gets a slice of the action.
