Boot sponsorship delivers 1000% commercial return for Corona
Published August 8th, 2005 in PR in Ireland‘There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it’s going to be a butterfly’ - Buckminster Fuller
Who would have thought that Corona’s sponsorship of two Cork hurlers would have created such a fuss? Their decision to wear boots with Corona Extra branded on them has resulted in widespread debate on sponsorship within the GAA.
The Sunday Times report today that the players were paid €500 each for their troubles and that the resulting coverage is estimated to have been worth €100,000 to Corona.
It’s always amazing to see a simple decision snowball into a huge media circus.
