Brian Greene is starting a representative body for Irish podcasters. He is setting up the group because:

The need exists to safe guard the activity of podcasters regards licencing, legal and a range of other issues like standards, training, hosting, product placement & sponsorship.

I don’t think there’s going to be much fuss about product placement and sponsorship for most Irish podcasters, but I’m going to start podcasting soon (well before the end of the year hopefully!) so I’ve signed up to the mailing list.

It’s great to see groups like this one and Digital Rights Ireland informing people about their online rights. Brian recently got a good write-up for his work on the Irish Emigrant podcast - read about it here at the Sunday Business Post.
