Anyone else on LinkedIn?
Published December 8th, 2005 in PersonalIt’s not what you know, it’s who you know
I’m in the process of updating my contacts in light of some of the people I met at Les Blogs. After playing around with the service, I’ve come across some other people I know that I didn’t think were on the network.
If you happen to be reading this and want to connect, leave a comment or send me an email because I’m not in the habit of using the service a lot at the moment.

we talked a bit ? but let’s get connected ?
Henriette
I’ve never used one of these social networking apps Piaras but after the geek dinner in Cork I think it would be a good way of keeping in contact with the numerous interesting bloggers I was speaking with, including yourself. So you’d recommend LinkedIn as the best one to use?
I have an account at linkedin but to be honest i never use it. I think it was fashionable for a while, but it did not have much staying power.
James - Yeah, everyone I’ve met at these gigs seem to have an accont with them
Brian - I don’t use it that often, but in terms of staying power it seems to have quite a few influentials signed up
Don’t blogs and blogrolls do just a good job with social networking?
For interaction? - yes
For networking? - no. Just because you’re not on my blogroll doesn’t mean you wouldn’t be of interest to me. My blogroll is often just a tip of what I’m reading at the moment.
Well I first signed up for another networking service about 2 years ago (don’t recall which one) but I’m glad that Piaras has re-introduced me. LinkedIn is impressive IMHO. I’ve already gleaned very interesting info from it and filled in many gaps in my knowledge about people in ‘my network’.
Like Damien, I was of the opinion that blogging networks had superseded the whole centralised networking model but I can now see the advantages and benefits of a system like LinkeIn.
I realise what I’m after posting last seems to contradict my first comment but, to clarify, I signed up for one of those service (wish I could remember which) but never actually used it. I just couldn’t figure out what it was for! Everyone else was doing it so….
I’m on it! Anyone who is on can add me, my email is davidoneill [at] gmail.com
