Dublin freesheets pay out for anti-litter drive
Published February 27th, 2006 in PR in IrelandDublin’s freesheets, Herald AM and Metro, have agreed to give anti-litter campaigners €120,000 worth of free advertising following complaints about the rise in littering following their launch. I’d touched upon the subject before and am glad to see that each publication will try to help change the mindset of Dubliners - walking the city streets on a Saturday or Sunday morning isn’t a pretty site.
The decision to give away free advertising is an easy move to stop both publications from becoming targets for negative press reports. one would have thought that this was going to have been an obvious problem and a similar initiative should have been launched from their launch.
According to the RTE report, Dublin City Council estimates that both freesheets generate between ten and twelve tonnes of litter everyday…who said that the Metro and Herald AM were light reading?
