Interested to read on Public Relations India about someone who compiles all their “media coverage clips and making these copies available at her office reception, conference room, CEO, and the marketing and sales departments.

Now while compiling press clippings is nothing new, I think the way she is going about it so proactively is really refreshing. Thanks to modern technology it isn’t as much of a necessity to get your hands dirty with ink as it was in the past, due to the fact that there are media monitoring services that can collate your clients’ coverage. Better yet, with the click of a few buttons you can also create press clipping booklets also.

The only thing is though that it’s always much nicer to see a cut-out of the article itself. Who wants to see a back and white printout if there was a colour shot? What if the coverage was front page news and it’s scaled down in the clipping? Wouldn’t it look nicer if you had a cut-out of the publication title to reinforce what a great hit it was?

We do up a lot of coverage boards in Drury Communications, primarily because they can be doubled up for presentation purposes in pitches, but also because they really drive home the impact of the coverage.

That being said though, after reading about the woman who compiles press clipping booklets and distributes them so proactively, I can’t help but feel that I should collect my clippings more carefully.

While the coverage might be freely available to me on a media clippings site, it might be a good idea to take pictures of the coverage and then upload it to Flickr. Then by using Qoop, Flickr’s photo printing service, I could make some really professional looking booklets.

Besides who are you ever going to hand a huge coverage board to to keep, when a nice brochure would be much easier to hand over!

Good value additions, Piaras. And hey we could use Qoop now seriously. Ya clippings are our hard work. Need to benefit from them more.
