Do/Read/Watch/Listen - February

Do - Go to the Lightwave exhibition in the newly opened Science Gallery in Trinity college. The exhibition features work by Willie Williams, best known for his concert production work with U2, an outdoor Pong game and Light Tracer, an interactive system that uses a variety of light sources to allow you to create images in real physical space. Best thing about the Lightwave exhibition is that it’s free!

Read - Nicolas Carr is plugging his new book, The Big Switch, at the minute, but make sure to check out his original title Does IT Matter? It will make you rethink the way view IT. At the very least it highlights why giving every kid in the country a laptop is not going to solve Ireland’s knowledge economy conundrum.

Watch - No Country for Old Men. If Javier Bardem doesn’t win Best Supporting Actor at this year’s Oscars, then the ceremony is a joke. His performance is actually disturbing and I can’t think of a better Hollywood villain since Hannibal Lecter. As for the movie itself, despite some flaws with the ending, the movie grows on you.

Listen - While listening to Best of Bootie 2007, I stumbled across the 2006 version. The stand out track is Going Back To Dani (Notorious B.I.G. vs. Red Hot Chili Peppers).
