Media & Marketing Links - 22 September
Published September 22nd, 2008 in GeneralSilicon Republic reports that “Google is understood to be planning major changes in how it delivers advertising, including alterations to its AdWords system, and also developing mobile ads customised to location and preference.”
Despite reports that they are leaving in their droves, Fakt, Poland’s biggest selling newspaper, has launched a weekly edition for Polish immigrants living in Ireland. The Irish Times reports that the publication has launched a 32-page edition, which will hit shelves every Thursday, and will carry Polish and Irish news in terms of editorial.
The BCI has renewed TV3’s license for ten years (via RTE.) The station has announced that under the terms of the new agreement that it will commit to producing 30 per cent home content in terms of its total output (via Irish Times.) The company also used the milestone to be quite vocal in its criticism of RTE over the weekend. In the Sunday Business Post, TV3 CEO David McRedmond is critical of how RTE is funded and called on Government to support the commercial TV sector in Ireland. Given that the future of TV stations is based on the content they create rather than import, it is promising to see TV3 commit to creating more home grown programming and hopefully we will see them encouraged to exceed their 30% target.
