My name is Piaras Kelly (pronounced pee-ah-rus…needless to say most people mispronounce it) and I am an account manager in Edelman’s Dublin office (Here’s our blog). I work on the corporate, consumer and digital teams.

Here’s some of my work that you might be familiar with - Halo 3 launch and Science Week Ireland 2007.

For the launch of Halo 3, Xbox wanted us to launch their flagship title like a Hollywood blockbuster, taking video games out of the closet and into the living room of Irish consumers. To achieve this, I set out to enlist an action hero that shared the same heroic qualities of Master Chief to give the Irish launch the red carpet feel of a Hollywood premiere. Who better than Richard Dean Anderson, star of MacGyver and Stargate SG1 and cult hero in Ireland? On September 25th and 26th 2007, the public were left in no doubt that Halo 3 had hit the shelves. Even EuroGamer were jealous of the Irish launch :D

One specific initiative that I brought to Science Week Ireland 2007 was a flagship lecture series. The theme for Science Week 2007 was ‘Surrounded By Science’. I identified a number of high profile personalities to illustrate the role science plays in our everyday lives such as Craig Johnston, inventor of the Adidas Predator, and Joe Edwards Jr, former NASA astronaut (click the links to watch their lectures.) This enabled us to bring Science Week Ireland to a new audience by getting coverage in consumer and lifestyle media.

My current clients include the Musgrave Group, Visa Europe, hosting365, Forfas - Discover Science and Engineering, Glanbia Consumer Foods, Canon, Imera and Xbox 360.

Previous to my time with Edelman, I worked with Drury Communications. My clients at Drurys included Opel Ireland (General Motors), the Opel Gaelic Players Awards, Magnet Networks, Hewlett-Packard (IPG, CIPG, PSG and TSG), 3Com, Novell and Statoil. Our work on the Opel Gaelic Players Awards earned a nomination in the 2007 PRCA Awards for best sponsorship.

Apart from this blog, I also occasionally contribute to the media and have been published in the Sunday Business Post, and have appeared on Today FM and NewsTalk.
