It appears some people are having problems posting comments. I think it’s something to do with my comments blacklist so I’ve switched everything over into my moderation list. Hopefully this should resolve any problems. So from now on, if your comment doesn’t appear, it’s probably stuck in moderation.
The latest six degrees of separation experiment is underway by PR bloggers. Blake tagged me, so I have to fill out the questionnaire and tag four other people and see how far this puppy goes.
Four jobs I’ve had:
Rickshaw driver
Video games sales assistant
Kitchen Porter
Off-license sales assistant
Four movies I can watch over and over:
Ichi the Killer

The voting for the Irish Blog awards has opened and just like every other Irish blogger today I’m posting a link to the nominations. I’m up for the best personal blog, along with numerous others (after the initial round of voting the list will be narrowed down to five).
Unfortunately I can’t make the [...]
Danish cartoons prove that the pen is mightier than the sword
0 Comments Published February 4th, 2006 in PersonalThe last week or two haven’t been good if you’re a search engine provider or Danish newspaper. With cries of censorship and inciting racial hatred, there has been a lot of debate about human rights in the online and offline worlds.
A couple of people though have made some interesting comments about the role the [...]
Another excellent initiative to bring people and politics together
0 Comments Published February 2nd, 2006 in PersonalOne of the beautiful facts about democracy is that there once was a time where you could communicate with your elected representative in a real and meaningful fashion. Nowadays they pop up on your doorstep when there is an election, claim credit for anything good that happened and won’t go near any sensitive issues [...]
Hopefully a video will appear under this text, otherwise my test post from Google Video didn’t work. EDIT - Looks like it was a success. Please find below a Saturday Night Live sketch which has been doing the rounds on the Internet called Lazy Sunday. The clip’s popularity highlights the added effect [...]
Apart from the Dublin travel website that I will be starting up in March hopefully, I’ve created two new WordPress sites that I will also be posting on over the coming months - my personal website and another one about movies, TV and DVDs. Hopefully they’ll be of interest to some people.
I will also [...]
The object of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives - Robert Maynard Hutchins
I have finally gotten around to setting up a del.icio.us page. For those unfamiliar with del.icio.us, it is effectively a method of collecting your bookmarks/favourites in order to share with others. I set one up [...]
The downside of being at Les Blogs earlier in the week was that I missed the launch of Digital Rights Ireland. All went well with their launch and they are now going from success to success.
I was waiting in the reception area of NewsTalk 106 earlier today with a client, when who walked in [...]
DVDSoon go bust and cancel all refunds - I officially hate DVDSoon
3 Comments Published December 9th, 2005 in PersonalA customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependant on us – we are dependent on him
Some of you may remember my post about my troubles with DVDSoon. They have now gone bust so anyone that was waiting on a refund has lost their cash. That’s €50 that [...]
It’s not what you know, it’s who you know
I’m in the process of updating my contacts in light of some of the people I met at Les Blogs. After playing around with the service, I’ve come across some other people I know that I didn’t think were on the network.
If you happen to be [...]
A long, long time ago…
I can still remember
How that music used to make me smile
It’s official…my iPod has finally died.
It’s been a long time coming. Obviously when you have to squeeze your iPod like a vice grips after charging it to get it to work, you realise something is wrong.
What’s annoying about it dying [...]
Stephen Davies tells me that he is unable to post comments on this blog using Firefox. I seem to be able to post them using Explorer or Safari. If anyone else has any problems, email me - smiarasATgmail.com
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we’re here we should dance
It’s Christmas party season and the festivities seem to be in full swing. I was at the Spin FM/98 FM Christmas party last night. With a room full of DJs, God only knows why they needed a band?
Next [...]
I forgot to mention that Tom Raftery has posted his podcast interview with Robert Scoble in advance of the IT@Cork annual technology and business conference.
I won’t make the conference, but I’ll be down in Cork for the geek dinner with Scoble. Apart from the usual suspects, Hugh MacLeod and Tom Murphy will also be [...]
Off to the IIA awards tonight. Who else is going?
2 Comments Published November 17th, 2005 in PersonalI’m going to the Irish Internet Awards tonight. Any other Irish bloggers going? I know Michele, John and Ed are.
What I really want to know is whether dinner is a free-for-all or are we actually assigned seats? I haven’t worn the tux in a while so it’ll be a nice excuse [...]
Nobody does it better
Makes me feel sad for the rest
Nobody does it half as good as you
Baby you’re the best
There’s less than two weeks until Ireland’s inaugural geek dinner with Robert Scoble, which is scheduled to take place after IT@Cork’s seventh annual Technology and Business conference. Apparently there are places still left at the [...]
TechCamp features in this month’s PC Live, courtesy of an interview with Ireland Offline. Thanks for the mention guys! On the TechCamp front expect some news soon, it’s looking like March 2006.
I would like to say that I’ve been too lazy to organise anything, but work has been pretty busy of [...]
Anyone have tickets for the Whipping Boy concert in the Olympia?
4 Comments Published November 1st, 2005 in PersonalOkay here’s a personal test to see if we can put the phrase ‘markets are conversations’ into action.
Here’s my dilemma. Whipping Boy have reformed for a couple of concerts. They play the Olympia in Dublin on December 18th. I have no ticket and am now reaching out on the Internet to see [...]

2 Comments Published October 29th, 2005 in PersonalI don’t know where I get my ideas from, you know, it’s like a gift or something. It’s like I can’t control it - The Girl Next Door
I seem to be getting some attention on the web these days. It turns out I’m listed as number nine in Technorati’s top 25 blogs on branding [...]
iPod video screen too small!? What a load of bs!
2 Comments Published October 24th, 2005 in PersonalOur generation has an incredible amount of realism, yet at the same time it loves to complain and not really change. Because, if it does change, then it won’t have anything to complain about - Tori Amos
There are a number of people out there saying that the video iPod screen is too small and that [...]
Noughties? How have I never heard of that term!?
5 Comments Published October 24th, 2005 in PersonalWorking in PR I thought I knew all the buzzwords. The first time I saw Noughties I thought it was a misspelling and changed it to Nineties. Turns out this term is actually being used. Do we need a catch-all phrase for every decade. What’s next the Tenties!?

TechCamp makes the news again (but what page was it on?)
3 Comments Published October 22nd, 2005 in PersonalNever doubt that a small, group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has - Margaret Mead
Bernie Goldbach reported on TechCamp in the Irish Examiner today (link to article on his blog) I flicked through the paper this morning, but didn’t spot it. Any [...]
TechCamp: Feedback, reflections & a heart attack!
3 Comments Published October 16th, 2005 in PersonalReality is the leading cause of stress amongst those in touch with it - Lily Tomlin
There’s a feedback section on the TechCamp wiki now entitled ‘TechCamp Afters‘. Bernie Goldbach has started the ball rolling already.
I thought the day went well, in fact if there was a problem it was that people got too caught [...]
We have too many high sounding words, and too few actions that correspond with them - Abigail Adams
Brian O’Neill has offered some great insight during our discussion on how technology improves our lives here at TechCamp. For all our talk about blogs, RSS, podcasts or whatever the latest buzzword of the day is, imagine [...]
